Beffroi de Saint-Riquier
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this belfry is 18 metres high and almost 10 metres wide! It symbolizes the municipal emancipation of the commune of Saint-Riquier.
Symbolizing the communal freedoms acquired in 1126, this belfry is a square tower of stone and sandstone that has retained its medieval base. The elevation dates from the 16th century, and the bell tower from the 18th century. The interior features a prison and 4 superimposed rooms that bear witness to the town's rich history. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it now houses the Tourist Information Office.
Numerous guided tours are offered all year round by the Tourist Office: https://www.terresetmerveilles-baiedesomme.com/spectacle-picardie.php : Il était une fois Centule, Découverte du Beffroi (extérieurs et prison), Saint-Riquier par le nom des rues, Oiseaux et Superstitions au Moyen Age and Mystères & Légendes à la lanterne.
