Pays d'Art et d'Histoire Ponthieu - Baie de Somme

Since 2017, 48 communes in the heart of the Regional Nature Park have been involved in an application for the national "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire" label, alongside the Syndicat Mixte Baie de Somme 3 Vallées, the Communauté d'Agglomération de la Baie de Somme, the Communauté de Communes Ponthieu Marquenterre and all the local cultural and tourist partners. The aim is to carry out an ambitious project to promote architecture, heritage and the living environment, which will enable the various facets of the local heritage to be showcased and the tourist appeal to be enhanced by offering cultural tourism that complements the nature tourism already developed on the coast.

The Pays d'Art et d'Histoire Ponthieu - Baie de Somme project is based on 3 axes:

- the development of historical and architectural knowledge

- preserving architecture, heritage and landscapes

raising public awareness and promoting heritage.

Its main aim is to encourage local people to take ownership of their area and become real ambassadors!

To achieve this, cultural and tourism players will be working hand in hand to offer a varied, high-quality programme of events and visits throughout the year, including discovery tours, urban walks, escape games, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and artistic residencies.

The label is due to be awarded in early summer 2023. The area will thus join the national network of 207 areas in France with the Villes et Pays d'Art et d'Histoire label, including the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire of Amiens Métropole and Santerre - Haute Somme. The application for the label, which will be presented to a regional jury, can be consulted online on the Regional Nature Park website.
