Created by tourism professionals in June 2009, the Baie de Somme Zéro Carbone association is a private initiative whose aim is to preserve the unique territory that is the Baie de Somme.
Faced with the economic and environmental impact of tourism, which attracts 10 million visitors a year, accommodation providers, restaurateurs, producers, farmers and providers of sporting and cultural activities decided to take collective action.
They founded the association by co-writing and signing a charter of commitment to :
- Implement a responsible and ethical tourist activity by limiting the impact of their economic activity on the Bay,
- Raise awareness of the Baie de Somme's environmental approach among tourists and local residents,
- Raise awareness of the major climate issues among the tourism industry.
The association, which is governed by the law of 1901, currently has around forty members and is open to anyone who wants to get involved in this exciting project.
