Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this belfry is 18 metres high and almost 10 metres wide! It symbolizes the municipal emancipation of the commune of Saint-Riquier.
Symbolizing the communal freedoms acquired in 1126, this belfry is a square tower of stone and sandstone that has retained its medieval base. The elevation dates from the 16th century, and the bell tower from the 18th century. The interior features a prison and 4 superimposed rooms that bear witness to the town's rich history. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it now houses the Tourist Information Office. The belfry is not accessible for security reasons. Guided tours are offered by the Tourist Office in 2024: https://www.terresetmerveilles-baiedesomme.com/spectacle-picardie.php : Il était une fois Centule, Découverte du Beffroi and Mystères & Légendes à la lanterne. Walking tour and booklet available free of charge.
